The University of Surrey (host organization)
is a leading academic institution with
technological focus, providing
comprehensive research, including
mid/career training. The Department of
Civil & Env. Engineering, consistently rated
in the top 10 in the UK (most recently 4th
out of 47 in the Guardian league table), has
an outstanding graduate employment
record and an excellent reputation for its
prize-winning inter-disciplinary research
(8th nationally in General Engineering -
RAE2008). It offers the only UK Bridge
Engineering MSc programme, providing
advanced postgraduate training to bridge
professionals from around the world for
over 35 years.
Brisa - Auto-estradas de Portugal, created in
1972, is one of the largest tolled motorway
operators in the world and the largest
transport infrastructure company in
Portugal. It is also part of Euronext 100 and
the FTSE4Good, the reference index for
social responsibility . As part of Brisa’s
mission, it is strongly committed towards
the promotion of mobility as a driver to
create important economic and social
benefits for the activities and the
communities that it serves, by integrating
technological solutions for ITS (Intelligent
Transportation Systems). Particularly, Brisa
Engenharia e Gestão is responsible for
project management actions, with special
focus on asset management, supervision of
construction works and land acquisition.
CEREMA (Center for Studies and Expertise
on Risks, Environment, Mobility, and Urban
and Country Planning) is a French public
institute acting in the field of sustainable
development. It is a resource centre for
scientific and technical expertise, in support
of the definition, implementation and
evaluation of public policies, carried by
national and local authorities. CEREMA has
a long standing collaboration with IFSTTAR
(French institute of science and technology
for transport development and networks)
